Dark Side of Porn – Debbie Does Dallas Uncovered

The Dark Side of Porn was a series of nine documentaries produced for Channel 4 in the UK and aired in 2005 and 2006, it examined the adult entertainment industry and each documentary ran for 50 minutes. The nine documentaries were:

  • Porn Shutdown
  • Diary of a Porn Virgin
  • Debbie Does Dallas Uncovered (this one)
  • Death of a Porn Star
  • Amateur Porn
  • Me and My Slaves
  • Hunting Emmanuelle
  • Does Snuff Exist?
  • The Real Animal Farm

This documentary, Debbie Does Dallas Uncovered, was perhaps the most memorable of them all, it examined the porn industry in the 1970′s and particularly the production, marketing, and impact of the film Debbie Does Dallas. The film also seeks to look into the mystery of the films star Bambi Woods who went missing soon after the third film in the series was released in 1985, she was rumored to have had connections with the mafia and was wanted by the FBI.

In the making of the documentary Channel 4 paid for a private investigator to try and track down Bambi Woods and to investigate claims that she died of a drug overdose in 1986. The private investigator was unable to verify her death and the producers received a letter purporting to be from Woods in which she claims that she left the industry as a result of the prevalence of drug abuse and is happily living as a reclusive homemaker in Iowa, the authenticity of the letter was not confirmed. Edit: It has apparently now been confirmed that Bambi Woods is alive, check out our feature Where  Is Bambi Woods?
