The Secrets of a Drug Dealer
Vice make awesome documentaries which nobody else dares to, and while they are always short, I always find myself gripped. In this twenty minute long 2012 feature The Secrets of a Drug Dealer the Vice team follow a New York man who sells a whopping $100,000 worth of drugs per week. He gives the viewer a unique insight into the inner-workings of his operation, even telling the crew how his workers operate and where he gets his drugs from. The dealer will get you literally anything that you want.
Interestingly, the man in the film was arrested just a few weeks after the video was shot but released the day after, he claims that he intends to get out of the game within a few months, but those in the game don’t often find a way out. Names and places are disguised in the film for obvious reasons, but it still offers a unique insight into the big city American drugs game. Was the dealer stupid for giving Vice access? Who knows, but it makes for good viewing either way.
